Global Talent Attraction Platform
The vision of the University of Strathclyde is bold and transformational, placing it among the world’s leading international technological universities. This promises an institution that is vibrant, dynamic and focused on solving the challenges facing society and industry through cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary research, education and knowledge exchange with global partners.
To accelerate the further realisation of our vision, Strathclyde is creating around 20 additional professorial posts per year over the next 3 years. The University is seeking to appoint the very best academic talent to these posts to enhance both research intensity and leadership in areas of strategic importance. In return, those appointed can expect a generous remuneration package along with outstanding additional financial and non-financial benefits. Professors appointed under our Global Talent Attraction Platform will benefit from excellent start up support, an initially reduced teaching and management load and regular career review with the opportunity to receive additional remuneration in recognition of exceptional contribution.
Those appointed will be leading an independent and internationally recognised research portfolio in an area aligned to Strathclyde’s strategic priorities, and will provide academic leadership to ensure a step change performance improvement in what is already an excellent, research intensive University. Strathclyde Professors publish in leading international journals, pursue funding opportunities from both UK and international sources, take a lead role in ensuring teaching and learning excellence and lead on developing collaborative and productive links with national and international partners in academia and within business, industry and government. In exceptional circumstances, where a GTAP applicant does not yet fully meet the criteria for a Strathclyde Professor but shows exceptional potential to do so in the future, appointment as a Strathclyde Reader will be considered. The Faculty would then work with the individual to plan their progress towards a Professorship through the University’s internal promotions process. Strathclyde University is committed to equality of opportunity. We are particularly keen to appoint women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in professorial posts at Strathclyde.
